This site is in the process of moving over to dates which are Y10K compliant. I feel it is my duty as a computer scientist to ensure that this information is able to be archived for use after the turn of the 10th Millenium. I urge you to take a stance against the Y10K deficient nature of today's computer systems. Make your software and documents Y10K compliant, and help me to lobby ANSI, ISO, and several federal governments to make use of Y10K compliant dates mandated on computing systems.
It is unfair of us to place the burden of fixing this problem on our children's children's children's ... children's children, and I will refuse to eat any food (while standing on my head and wearing one red and one lavender sock) until everyone is Y10K Compliant.
A: First, and this is the hard part, you must formulate an original thought. I will not answer questions twice. Then, you can email them to me, and I will be glad to answer them.
A: No, Y2K is a different problem; however, if we fix the Y10K problem, then the Y2K problem is fixed. So, forget about Y2K and focus on Y10K.
A: This is hard to surmise; however, it is a widely held belief that Y10K may be the year of the apocalyps, and if your documents are not Y10K compliant, this is the last sign. So, the end of the world will personally be your fault if you do not comply with Y10K accepted dating schemes.
A: The accepted course of action in this case is to simply not use dates at all. If you cannot enter a Y10K compliant date, then do not enter a date at all. If you do not use any dates in your documents/programs, then you are automatically Y10K compliant. So, pat yourself on the back and slap the Y10K Compliant Logo on your document or program.
A: Yes, but she is the only one.

A: In some programming languages, such as "C", numbers which start with 0 are in base 8. However, you are not a "C" compilier, so I doubt that this should cause you any difficulty. And, I would appreciate it if you would not bring up our personal conversations on this list.
A: We expect that this will take a few more years and a few billion dollars. Then, we will all eat some apple pie while standing on our heads and wearing one red and one lavender sock. The next day we will start our next billion dollar project, the Y100K Compliance problem.
A: No, studies by bleeding-heart liberals who don't believe in the death penalty have shown that the death penalty is not an effective deterrent. However, no such studies have been conducted regarding brutal torture, so feel free to do so if you think it will help.
A: My laywer has instructed me that, under the rights given to me by the 5th Ammendment to the Constitution of the United States, I don't have to answer that question.
A: N0, U R
A: Because it is unfair to the roaches, who will still be living in our houses after we have all killed each other in some awful neuclear holocust due to the fact that the Soviet Union stole our programs which are not Y2K compliant to run their missle silos, since they may want to use the information we leave behind in the year 10,000.
To be Y10K compliant, place a 0 in front of all dates before the year 10,000. This will help computers after this date know correctly, which year you are specifying. Once you have done this, then you can place this nifty icon on your document:
For a document or program to be certified Y10K Compliant, it must be voted on by all immediatly available memebers of the Y10K Compliant Committee. This Committee consists of all people with enough inteligence to recognize if a year consists of 5 digits. Are you a member of the Committee? You are if you can correctly identify which one of the following is Y10K Compliant:
If you are not sure if you selected the correct date, then you are not a member of the committee. If anyone uses any of the information on this site after the year 10,000 they probably have more to worry about than the fact that their computer has trouble telling what date it is. And anyway, I think I will have to kill myself if computers of the year 10,000 work the same as today.
